Scotts Miracle-Gro Company states that most lawns need 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week – either from rain or watering – to soak the soil that deeply. That amount of water can either be applied during a single watering or divided into two waterings during the week. Just be sure not to overwater your lawn. This concept of watering the lawn, will also apply to contributing into your 401k at work but how?

With each paycheck you receive, you are contributing into your company’s 401k and most receive a bi-weekly paycheck. On top of your contributions, your company most likely is matching you up to a stated percentage amount. It is best to not contribute more than you can afford but contribute at least enough to receive all the matching contributions from your employer. Just as you take care of and maintain your beautiful lawn, you are doing the same to your retirement plan. If you keep this up, your homeowners association (HOA) might put a yard of the month sign in the lawn.
